Volunteer

Several ships come to dock at the port of Oakland daily and it is the mission of the International Maritime Center to make our services available to as many of their sailors as possible. Ship visitors will board vessels to speak with sailors. While onboard they are able to offer a new ear to men and women who may have been at sea for some time. Friendship is valuable enough but ship visitors are also able to direct sailors to services (communication, legal, transportation) that can solve their current needs.

Volunteers also operate many of the services the center provides including staffing the seafarer's center and driving vans on and off the port.
